What is ECO4 and HUG2?
ECO4 and HUG2 are both Government-backed schemes that aim to help lower-income houses in need of improvements.
The goal of the scheme is to help citizens get warmer homes with better energy efficiency ratings.
Do You Qualify? What Are The Requirements?
Local Councils have been given funding grants for eligible households to help boost the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their energy bills. EPC ratings of low energy efficiency properties (those in bands D-G) through home improvements, including Solar PV, loft insulation and underfloor insulation.
Check you qualify for the schemes:
You must be in a qualifying postcode (see our postcode checker below.)
Your house must have an EPC/energy efficiency rating of D or lower.
Off Mains Gas (Your home has Electric/Oil/Or No Heating)
If you’re not in a qualifying postcode you can still qualify if you have:
Have a household income of below £31,000 - OR any one person in the property is on one of the following benefits
Income based Jobseekers allowance (JSA)
Income related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
Income Support (IS)
Pension Credit Guarantee Credit Working Tax Credit (WTC)
Child Tax Credits (CTC)
Universal Credit (UC)
Housing Benefit
Pension Credit Savings Credit

Eligibility Criteria
For Homeowners and Private Renters:
To qualify, you must meet one of the following income criteria:
A household income of £31,000 or less (excluding specific benefits).
Live in a property not connected to mains gas for central heating.
Reside in a property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, G.
For Landlords:
Landlords may be eligible if:
Their tenants meet the income criteria
The property lacks mains gas for primary heating
And they own four or fewer private rental properties.
Who Can Get Solar Panel Funding?
The HUG2 grant aims to make solar and air source heat pump funding available to all low-income, off-gas grid homes.
Grants are can be given to both owner-occupied and privately rented homes that are rated EPC band D-G.

What is HUG 2?
HUG 2 is a grant funding scheme empowering Local Authorities to provide energy efficiency upgrades and clean heating systems to low-income households. Targeting off-gas grid homes in England with EPC band D-G ratings, HUG 2 aligns with the UK's Net Zero commitment and supports green retrofit initiatives.

What Happens Next?
Upon eligibility confirmation for solar panel funding, your property will be assigned a Retrofit Coordinator to guide you through the process.
Our Retrofit Coordinator team member will see which home improvement measures would be best for your case.
If you approve and are happy with the suggested solar panel grant or air source heat pump plan, we’ll schedule your installation.
After completion, you'll receive a comprehensive handover pack, including operation manuals and warranties.
Additional Information
Previous funding under the Green Home Grants scheme may affect eligibility.
The property must be off-gas for heating, excluding gas cookers.
Installations are subject to property type, permission, and funding caps.
