Solar Panels For Farm Buildings

CRG Direct installed a 24-panel solar system on a farm building, delivering significant energy bill savings and a quick return on investment, while promoting sustainability for over 15 years.

CRG Direct recently installed a 24-panel solar system on a farm building, providing a cost-effective solution to reduce high energy bills. Solar panels for farm buildings have gained popularity due to their ability to generate free energy for at least 25 years.

In this case study, we will take a look at the details of the system installed, the reason behind recommending this particular size, and the potential savings that the farmer can expect to receive.

Upon receiving a request from Bev, the farm owner, to explore options for reducing electricity bills at his external building, CRG Direct assessed the energy consumption and proposed an efficient solution. Bev's electricity usage amounted to 12,000 kWh per year, costing him 45p per kilowatt-hour (Kw).

What system did we install?

To maximize the system's efficiency and the savings Bev could get, CRG Direct conducted a thorough analysis of Bev's energy requirements. The majority of Bev’s energy consumption is during daylight hours, so we recommended a large 24-panel system to cater to this demand. By installing such a system, Bev would have lots of solar energy available throughout the day to supply his farm.

Additionally, Bev expressed an interest in incorporating battery storage into the system. Considering his substantial energy bill, CRG Direct suggested:

  • 24 425W Perlight panels for a total of 10.2kWh.

  • 15.36Kw battery storage capacity. The team selected SunSynk batteries

  • SunSynk 8kW hybrid inverter to meet Bev's needs effectively.

During the site visit, CRG Direct assessed the property's conditions and determined that the south-facing roof could accommodate 24 panels. They opted for 425 Watt Perlight panels, resulting in a 10.2Kwh system. The Perlight panels, battery, and inverter used in this installation are MCS accredited, ensuring a highly efficient, safe, and sophisticated system.

How much money could farm solar panels save?

Based on our calculations, CRG Direct estimated that the new farm solar system would generate approximately 10,036.8 Kwh of electricity per annum. This translates to savings of approximately £3,556 per year for Bev. Moreover, the return on Bev's investment was estimated to be achieved in just six years. With a 25-year warranty on the panels, Bev could save up to £4,000 per year for more than 15 years.

Should you get solar panels on a farm?

Yes, solar panels are a great way to reduce your energy bills. As businesses, farms can benefit from a Super Deduction Tax break of 130%.

Not only do these systems offer substantial savings on electricity bills, but they also provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly source of energy. By using solar energy, farmers can reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources, mitigating their carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future.

In conclusion, CRG Direct's installation of a 24-panel solar system, complete with battery storage, on Bev's farm building showcases the advantages of implementing solar panels for agricultural purposes. The selected system size and the incorporation of efficient components ensure optimal energy generation and significant cost savings. As the farm's solar system continues to operate for years to come, Bev will enjoy considerable financial benefits while promoting sustainability on his property.

We had a great experience with CRG…

“We had a great experience with CRG installing our solar panels and battery. Pre-install I had quite a few questions and they were always answered quickly and in an easy to understand way. During the installation the team discovered that it wasn’t going to be as straightforward as they initially thought due to the strange layout of our house and the location of the electrical fuse box etc but they did a great job of working out a route for the cabling that caused the least disruption. Since the install I’ve had another couple of questions about configuring the system and again, I got a quick and helpful response.”

A pleasure to deal with.

“From the initial survey till completion of the installation I have been most impressed. There was no hard sell, everything was explained clearly. Once I had accepted the lead date was just a matter of weeks. The actual installation was completed very efficiently. The backup support is second to none. l can't recommend Frank, Melissa and the team more highly for the whole experience.”

Very impressed

“Frank came out to measure and quote for solar panels. He was professionally and quick with his quote. We did not feel rushed or pressured into purchasing at all.
Timescales were accurate and their communication was speedy and sincere.
Installation was brilliant. You could tell the installers knew exactly what they were doing.
Warning- The app to see your solar usage and generation is addictive!”
